Jumbo has not ‘sunk’ only ‘capsized’, says owner of iconic Hong Kong floating restaurant
Subscribe to our YouTube channel for free here: https://sc.mp/subscribe-youtube The saga of Hong Kong’s Jumbo Floating Restaurant took a dramatic turn on June 24, 2022, as its owner said the vessel has not “sunk”. On June 20, it was widely reported that the iconic restaurant had capsized and sunk in the South China Sea. The latest clarification that it only “capsized” came just one hour after the South China Morning Post received a reply from the Hong Kong Marine Department on June 23 that the owner might have breached local laws if they failed to notify authorities of a sinking incident within 24 hours of its occurrence. A spokeswoman for Aberdeen Restaurant Enterprises, the owner’s parent company, gave the clarification four days revealing on June 20 that the incident had happened on June 19.
